Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) refers to an open media signaling IEEE standard that allows service a provider’s network
to interoperate seamlessly with a customer’s premise-based PBX. SIP enables voice and data traffic to be shared on the same
circuit, providing reliable and cost effective access between the PSTN network and Internet.
Telekenex delivers SIP as an "expandable" virtual voice circuit. There is no physical dedicated voice circuit if no one is on
a voice call. When someone picks up the phone to make a voice call, SIP automatically sets up the virtual voice circuit and
allocates the necessary bandwidth for that voice call, delivering quality and reliability. Once the voice call ends, SIP
automatically releases the previously allocated voice bandwidth and the circuit then returns to full capacity on the data side.
